We pray for Minneapolis
We believe that every life is of incalculable value. Each life lost to gun violence in any form affects not just the individuals lost but their entire circle of relationships. Indeed, every act of gun violence tears at the fabric of the Beloved Community itself.
We do not issue a statement after every incident of gun violence—as they are tragically too frequent—but today’s school shooting during Mass at Annunciation Catholic School especially breaks our hearts and has catalyzed renewed national conversation about gun violence.
While we continue to work for change, today we pray. We pray for the victims, their families and community. May they find peace and healing. And we pray for the United States. May hearts and minds be opened so that we can end this epidemic of gun violence.
